Research "Teaching and learning about the European Union at school in the 21st century - challenges and opportunities"

The research "Teaching and learning about the European Union in school in the 21st century - challenges and opportunities" was conducted in the framework of the present project. It analyzes the teaching and learning of topics about the European Union in Bulgarian schools in the 21st century, identifying problems and challenges. The object of the research is the formal and non-formal education for the European Union in a school in Bulgaria.

Answers to the questions are given:
• Where, how, when and to what extent is the knowledge of the European Union included in the normative documents, in the curricula and activities of the schools in Bulgaria?
• What are the educational outcomes related to the study of topics for the European Union?
• What are the new educational challenges for teaching and learning for the European Union?
• What are the educational needs for knowledge of the European Union?

The made analyzes and conclusions help in the search for new pedagogical solutions and in the development of appropriate learning resources to assist teachers in their specific work on European topics, as well as students in their intention for self-improvement.

The results of the research were discussed at the round table: "How to teach and study the topics of the European Union in school in the 21st century?", Bourgas.
