The final stage of the National students’ competition "Europe is my home - let's keep it clean and green" was the meeting in Sofia on May 11-12, 2022. During the event, the participants presented their ideas and projects in front of the members of the jury..


Mr. Kosta Kostov, Chief Expert of the Ministry of Education and Science, responsible for civic education was the key speaker at the meeting. He congratulated the participants and explained the role of the civic education for the creation of active citizens.

Prof. Ingrid Shikova, project manager, presented the project and explained the stages of the National student competition "Europe is my home - let's keep it clean and green". She expressed satisfaction of the active participation of the students and pointed out their interesting ideas for keeping Europe clean and green.

Krasimira Vasileva,PhD presented members of the jury, that reviewed and evaluated the materials in the first stage of the national student competition, namely: Chairman: Prof. Dr. Ingrid Shikova, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski” and members: Krasimira Vasileva,PhD - NABEC, Anelia Miteva, Language High School-Plovdiv, Asya Bogoeva, 138 Secondary School of Western and Eastern Languages "Prof. Vasil Zlatarski” - Sofia, Valya Alexandrova, Yordan Radichkov High School for Foreign Languages - Vidin, Donka Aleksieva, French Language High School - Plovdiv, Yovka Yanakieva, Professional Trade High School - Burgas.
The members of the jury analyzed the reviewed student materials, pointed out the good results, as well as the identified shortcomings and drew conclusions.
Teachers presented innovative teaching and learning practices in the field of EU knowledge. They shared their positive experience and highly appreciated the Hub Europe materials.

All the participants nominated in the categories project, report / essay, drawing, poster, model of an ecological settlement, IT product, video clip and documentary film presented their materials. They pointed out the problems they identified, gave their solutions to them and shared their messages.

An exhibition of drawings and posters of the competition was organized.

All participants in the competition received a certificate for participation and European gifts, provided by the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria. They were awarded by the Head of the Department of European Studies at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski” Prof. Assoc. Kaloyan Simeonov and the project manager Prof. Dr. Ingrid Shikova.

The European Club at the Sofia Vocational High School of Electronics "John Atanasov" received a special diploma for the highest activity in the competition with the participation of 34 students.

The most interesting and exciting was the announcement of the winners in each category and the distribution of prizes.

The first prizes were enjoyed:
Monika Pezhgorska and Denis Nikolov, students from 138 High School for Western and Eastern Languages "Prof. Vasil Zlatarski”, Sofia for his article “The human body - a model of future eco-buildings”. They received an award diplomas and two encyclopedias - "Bulgarian Popular Encyclopedia" and "Pantheon of World Intellectual Elite and Bulgaria".
Kalina Ilieva, a student at the Sofia Vocational High School of Electronics "John Atanasov", Sofia for her drawing "Ecosystems and Biodiversity". She received an award diploma and the “Book for art”.
Veronika Nikolova, a student at the National Humanitarian High School "St. St. Cyril and Methodius”, Blagoevgrad for his poster “Protect the water - it is our life”. In addition to an award diploma, she received and a smartwatch.
Martin Ananiev, student of Sofia Vocational High School of Electronics "John Atanasov" with the interactive map "All EV charging stations in BG". He got an award diploma and a smart watch.
Katerina Choleva, a student from the Vocational Forestry High School "Nikola Vaptsarov", Bansko for her model "Eco Village" received an award diploma and a smart watch.
Kaloyan Todorov, student of 138 Secondary School for Western and Eastern Languages “Prof. Vasil Zlatarski ”, Sofia for his video Zero Pollution. He received an award diploma and a digital video camera.
The junior ambassadors of the EP at the Vocational School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics, Plovdiv for their documentary "Europe is my home - let's keep it clean and green" received an award diploma and a sport’s camera.
Encouraging prizes were awarded to:
Teodora Nedkovska, a student from 138 Secondary School for Western and Eastern Languages "Prof. Vasil Zlatarski”, Sofia for her poster “Zero Pollution”. She received an award diploma and an "Encyclopedia of the Earth".
Zlatimir Petrov, a student from PMPG "St. Kliment Ohridski”, Montana for the presentation “Europe is my home, let's keep it clean and green” received an award diploma and the encyclopedia “My money”.
Olya Terzieva and Zahara Sirakova, students from the Agricultural Vocational High School "Kl. Timiryazev", Sandanski for their video "Green - thing" received award diplomas and wireless headphones.
Kalina Kuncheva, a student at the French Language High School "Antoine de Saint-Exupery", Plovdiv, received an award diploma and wireless headphones for the video "For a Better Future".

The teachers - mentors of the participating students received certificate of commendation and the book published under the project "Europe at school - for teachers with imagination", as well as the books of the Department of European Studies at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" - "The Voice of Youth - Energy for Europe" and "Europe - green, digital, global".

The awarded students and their teachers were invited to participate in the final event of the project - the youth conference "The Voice of Youth - Energy for Europe".
